Much Love & Respect

Life has a way of throwing curve balls when we least expect it..... unfortunately today the world lost one of its best, someone who's love for life was an inspiration to everyone around him and his smile will always be engraved in my memory.

I first got to know Mike Janelle as a competitor during 24 hours of Moab as Brian Smith and I were battling it out year after year with the dynamic duo of Jay Henry and Mike. In a race that breaks you down and builds you up, it was Mike's resilient positive energy that I will never forget. It never mattered that it was 3 am and 5 minutes separated us, Mike always had a smile on his face and was always there to cheer you on. We never beat Mike and Jay..... but it never mattered, they were friends and we learned a great deal from them.

Mike was 40 years young and managed to pack more life into those 40 years than most could in 100. His enthusiasm for life, his hilarious stories, his dedication and his smile will never be forgotten. You will be missed Mike, may you rest in peace....

Where The Climate Suits My Clothes

Since my last update, I have sought out the comforts of good tequilla, SPF 4 and the diamond sea.

Somewhere at the tip of the baja coast, the Ferguson's have managed to find a little piece of paradise with an ocean view.

A place where the morning gently fades into the afternoon and the color of the horizon, not Jay Leno, lets you know when it's time to hit the hay.

At this moment the farthest thing from my mind has been the bike....

That is of course until our car broke down.

Here, the only "base training" that matters involves cocunut oil and aloe.

Short For Radical

Rad: adj. Slang, Excellent; wonderful. [Short for radical.]

There are many reasons why "Rad" Ross has earned the title "Rad".... I could go on and on.

Exhibit A

Exhibit B

Then, last weekend at the US Cyclocross Grand Prix here Boulder, a week after his beer binder in Germany, without ever doing a cyclo cross race before, he manages to scape his way into 13th at one of the biggest cross races in the US.... punk.

Check out this video of Wells (who only beat "Rad" Ross by minute) teaching Ross how to mount/dismount.

One of these days, somone will end up in the drink.... until then, we will just keep saying "you first".

Live To Ride..... Ride To Death, pretty much sums it up.
